2017 HHF Maple Season - Week Four

Posted 3/17/2017 7:37am by The Webb Family.

Greetings from all of us at Harding Hill Farm,

It has been a wild week at Harding Hill! Last Saturday and Sunday, a lot of brave people show up in VERY cold conditions to spend some time by the evaporator. Thank you for stopping in! We boiled sap stored from the previous week. Despite a few challenges with frozen pipes and frozen farmers, we kept the sugarhouse reasonably warm. By the end of the day on Sunday, we reached over 270 gallons of syrup for the season. We were making the most delicious Dark Amber syrup I have had in a long time. I even labeled my own bottle that I refuse to share. There is nothing like warm syrup over ice cream to end the day or syrup in your coffee/tea to start the day!

The deep freeze wasn't enough, so Mother Nature dumped 16+ inches of fresh snow during the big storm this week. We enjoy the snow around here once chores are done, but the wind has not been fun! Needless to say, the sap has not been running. So back to the woods for Ty and Van to finish a logging job and accomplish a winter residential tree project.

Meanwhile, Kelly has been juggling some tasks with the cows and keeping up with social media. If you enjoy my updates and blog posts, please check out my friend, Dairy Carrie's, facebook page TODAY! I am taking over the page to talk about a day in the life at Harding Hill and all things maple. It should be a fun day for all.

Although we hoped to be open with sap to boil this weekend... Mother Nature is thinking otherwise. We will be CLOSED on Saturday due to snow and no sap. We will open on Sunday as planned! See below for updated hours.

Maple Month is here!

Saturday, March 18th ~ CLOSED due to weather

Mark your calendars for the traditional NH Maple Weekend celebration on March 25th and 26th. We will be set up for more detailed tours and lots of maple and beef samples! Check out the Facebook Event and please share with your friends.

Grass Fed Beef and Pasture-Raised Pork

Looking to stock your freezer or just need ideas for dinner, come see us at the sugarhouse for a selection of Harding Hill meat. We will have our popular steaks, ground beef, sausage, and more! We also have a selection of pork including a good amount of boneless pork chops. These pork chops are amazing!

Complete price lists and availability by email request. If you have a large order or are looking for a specific cut, contact us by email or phone (603-504-4121) so we have it ready for you at the sugarhouse.

Remember - We will be closed this Saturday, March 18th. With all this snow, I suggest you go skiing instead. That's our plan!

See you on Sunday or next weekend for the Annual Maple Weekend. Stay tuned for weekly updates and if you see steam rolling out at the sugarhouse, stop by and say hello!

As always contact us with any questions, price sheet, or order requests.

Thank you again for your support,
